One thing we all have in common is MEMORIES. My normal direction is to look forward not backwards. The above was recently given to my wife as a gift. It must have had a subconscious effect on me as I awoke at 2.30am this morning and wrote the following.
Memories
Our memories are a fail-safe organism.
They distinguish in shared redundancies.
Their purpose is to cast shadows of yesterday
And softens the heat of today.
Attached to us they bring forth the glow of past events
And summon our fears of tomorrow.
When the portals of our being open
They flow abundantly,
Giving joy, sorrow, hope.
No amount of light will extinguish them
Nor pain cause them to forget.
They are embedded in our souls forever.
