Today we have another recent charcoal drawing of mine titled Mr and Mrs Matisse.
Matisse has always been a favorite artist of mine particularly with his diverse range of styles and imagery. He explored many things and I do love his colorful cut-outs at the end of his very productive life. It always amazed me how Matisse being so sick and bed ridden managed to put together these stunning images simply by cutting up colored papers and having them put together.
Also love The Dance which I often visited in MOMA in New York.
Matisse was a Master of simplification and design and known for his use of colour and his fluid and original draftsmanship.
I guess this post is an opportunity for me to pay homage to this great artist.
Unlike many artists Matisse was buried with his wife and below is their tombstone in Paris.
My drawing has also brought them together too.
