This is often asked about Modern Art.
It does not concern me what it is called.
“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”
Prov. The nature of a thing is more important than what it is called. (From Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet.)
It is how it makes you feel.…. or think that matters.
What I see is limitless…….. mystery……..magic…….the unknown.
What I see is Life!

The Drummer
Came across this photo of me in another time …… “The Drummer”
Just shows how much I really love rhythm. It is in my blood.
We had the idea of growing our hair and calling the group ……. The Beatles…
but a group in the UK beat us to it.
They sounded just like us.
The Trojans ……. the name went on to bigger things.
The Drummer….. played in various groups including jazz. Still loves all music.

Front
The FRONT ….This local sign is what most people look at and see (popular pub culture).
The BACK…….Below is what I see too……love the holes which are not obvious from the front.
Back
Everything in life depends on how we see it.
Change our view…… and everything changes.
I feel this sign dramatically shows what a change of viewpoint will do.
The front side is loud…bold and eye catching.
The back is minimal, contemplative and peaceful.
You may prefer the front or the back……..that is your choice.
But both are very different….and most people never see the back.

“Muddle and Gabble” (Version 2)
Another new mixed media work on paper.
This work has echos of Turner’s late works and Gerhard Richter’s newer works.
However throughout my career I have often returned to a more nebulous form which to me,
better approaches the spiritual in art.
Look closely and you will see a reference to a Picasso painting.
The title of this work is unusual so I have included the meanings of the words…..
Muddle…. An untidy and disorganized state or collection.
Gabble….. Rapid and indistinct speech or noises
