A stunning charcoal Robert. Perhaps a little poetic license taken with “Academic” unless from the academy of Burgess. I adore the expressive mark making…
Thanks John……but in this case it is more a parody of the original but with great respect. I love and admire the Old Masters but do not want to do anything that even approaches their “classic skills.” My art has learnt their skills, absorbed them and now seeks to “explode” them onto a support such as paper, canvas etc. I make no attempt to call my art “Academic” and it is only an art of “the heart or spirit.”
Terrific, Robert!
Thank you Anna
