I was deeply moved when I saw this shattered bike lying in a field.
I easily imagined the joy it had brought to someone in the past.
Now it lay like a slain animal awaiting the vultures of time to fully destroy it.
Title : A Final Resting Place
Footnote : As I prepared this post the image of J.M.W. Turner’s The Fighting Temeraire came to mind. While I make no claim to begin to approach this Masters work his painting is full of Grandness mine is one of simplicity, the ordinary, the everyday. However I feel there is a common link in our intention…..that which has served humanity is now being cast aside.

Indeed. Inanimate objects have a poignancy all of their own.
Sure do……..thanks certainline.
It’s what came to my mind looking at this scene…”like a slain animal….”
(I’ve always thought that a bike is like a friend…)
Your photo is sad , but beautiful!
Love that duality……Apollo is certainly my friend and supports me for those wonderful morning rides. Thanks Anna!

Life is sad at times……..death in particular!
