As I reviewed my experience of the Blues Festival I realised apart from my love of the music my main interests are PASSION and ORIGINALITY. Those artists who give their most to create something which is compelling and truly themselves. Even when this music may not be my favorite I am still engaged to watch and listen. I think most people are the same.

PASSION and ORIGINALITY was evident in 8 Ball Aiken and in todays post of Uptown Brown………a true original one man band! With simple means both engaged their audiences in unique ways. Both intimate and personal they shared a magic which the powerful 10,000 watt huge main stage at the other end of the street could not. Don’t get me wrong I loved both. The all embracing blasting sound of 4 or 5 or more musicians contained within the main stage each giving their special contributing to a 75 minute performance was amazing but…….

When Rhythm Is In The Blood

Came across this photo of me in another time …… “The Drummer”

Just shows how much I really love rhythm. It is in my blood.

We had the idea of growing our hair and calling the group ……. The Beatles…

but a group in the UK beat us to it.

They sounded just like us.

The Trojans ……. the name went on to bigger things.

The Drummer….. played in various groups including jazz. Still loves all music.

“Immortality” – Brought Tears to My Eyes

I love all types of music. Music comes in many different types and styles ranging from Classical, Opera, Rock, Jazz, Blues to Pop, Country, Alternative, Electronic and World to mention a few.

When I lived in Portugal I heard and loved the Fado. On my many visits to Montreal I loved their French Canadian music. Then visiting New Orleans their distinctive Zydeco music appealed to me. The list could go on and on. Many genres have a rich history or geographical significance, or music roots that go far beyond our present time.

To me music is like art ………….. I love all styles, genres, movements etc. because it reflects the diversity and depth of the human spirit and that makes it valuable and relevant to our lives.

So that brings me to today’s post.

Yesterday I heard this song that touched me deeply … “Immortality” by Celine Dion and The Bee Gees

In fact it brought tears to my eyes as I listened to it on the radio and I want to share it with you.

It is set in an elegant place….maybe a Chateau like mine above …and is so beautifully filmed and realized. I love the ghost like figures that appear and disappear.
