This is part of a new drawing in paint and charcoal. Drawing to me has always been fundamental to art. I love the skill of classical drawing although I have departed from its restraints and formal arrangements. These days I just love to let my art take me where it wants to go without any forethought or planning which were requirements of the classics. Even now I pause to reflect on my next move. Everything comes from within not without.
Suddenly my art has taken a theatrical twist. These paintings are like characters from a theatrical group. Each has the power and presence to stand alone or contribute to a greater presentation. They are versatile and have many aspects to their character. Always full of wonder and mystery.
This is a new painting which I do like. It touches many of my main concerns in painting. I love the colour, movement, energy, mystery, light it generates. Nothing is static. All this on a physical level then, to me, other non physical levels beginning with feelings and emotions. I hope this communicates with you too.
Captured these images recently. When I returned to look at them I suddenly realised how throughout our lives there is always somebody (something) caring, guiding and protecting us….. even when we are unaware of them. Even this kite surfer has an obvious Hidden Helper!
Here is a detail of my new painting. If you are wondering what this is all about…. I have often worked with the theme Interior as it resonates well with me. Looking within can yield so many benefits particularly if it is aligned with Source. Each of my Interiors reveals more discoveries which I have shared over the years. This one is more earthy and symbolic. Forms have begun dissolving into each other. I am just the observer on a journey who knows where.
Here is another new painting on paper measuring 168cms x 126cms. These works are heavily gessoed before beginning and therefore have a robust quality to them. For gallery display they can be mounted on a streched canvas or board or sit within a large frame.
