New charcoal drawing on paper.
Sometimes we stretch out so much we go beyond what we thought we could do…..

Most often the Nerang River is full of water and even floods……..however yesterday was a very low tide.
I was tempted to walk across the rocky river bed …just because I could.
The flow has reduced to a trickle.
Earlier this year it was in flood.
It is such a dramatic contrast showing how……… all things change.

As I was riding the other day I found some trees without leaves……one, shown top left, a mighty tree which normally dominates all around it with its grandeur.
It got me thinking about the nature of things……like trees many of us have life circumstances where we shed our leaves.
Trees know that it is temporary and the leaves will return with new growth and vitality.
Many people take it personally and get “screwed up”………when it is only the nature of things.

A morning ride produced this photograph recently.
There are many hills in this area and they have made something clear to me.
Getting up hills is very hard work…..but….going down is a breeze!
Could this be a metaphor for life……hard work has rewards.
Just a thought.

The Sugar Bowl Cloud Watchers were at it again recently and they got me thinking…..
One thing for sure in this world is we are all different…..
with different dreams, different things that make us happy.
Imagine a world where we all wanted to be the same…… Astronauts, Artists, Accountants or whatever.
The world would never function.
So,………..just maybe….it has been designed to be perfect just as it is.
Just a thought…..

Life can test us in many different ways.
But our ATTITUDE makes the difference in our acceptance of these tests.
About a year ago a friend Tony has his leg off above the knee.
He faced the whole experience with humour and never complained on the huge adjustment this required in his life.
On a recent visit he quietly reached forward and suddenly re-adjusted his leg.
He termed this…..”an ice breaker.”

The Sugar Bowl Cloud Watches were out as sunset approached recently. They were excited because they don’t usually stay out so late in the day. Not a word was spoken. They enjoyed every moment.
Their love of clouds is infectious. Also they exude perfect peace and quiet when they just sit there and take it all in.
I think we can learn a lot by watching these amazing little sugar bowls.

This is the finished painting of the one I featured in my studio recently. Here is the link.
https://burgessart.wordpress.com/2012/10/06/work-in-progress/
It was originally taken from the Picasso Still Life Painting shown below.
Pablo Picasso: Still Life with a Lamp, 1936. December 29 is the Poster hanging on the wall.
Picasso loved to take other people’s paintings and make them his own.
I hope I have been able to make something of his.
What do you think or……… feel?
