A Final Resting Place
I was deeply moved when I saw this shattered bike lying in a field.
I easily imagined the joy it had brought to someone in the past.
Now it lay like a slain animal awaiting the vultures of time to fully destroy it.

Footnote : As I prepared this post the image of J.M.W. Turner’s The Fighting Temeraire came to mind. While I make no claim to begin to approach this Masters work his painting is full of Grandness mine is one of simplicity, the ordinary, the everyday. However I feel there is a common link in our intention…..that which has served humanity is now being cast aside.

I have always been impressed by “landscape” as a genre of art.
Many artists have approached it from the heroic to the simple, the profound to the mundane.
And my favorite painter….J.M.W. Turner…..he is top of the list.
