Immediately after finishing this new ink drawing I was asked…… “Do We Know You?” I was so shocked! Nobody in any of my artworks has ever spoken to me….even when they were much more realistic works.
Suddenly I wondered…. is realism nothing to do with making things “look” real?
It was going to be another in my new series….Memories of When I Could Draw……. but these two people were determined to be made real. So I had no choice.
They will probably ask you….”Do We Know You?”
If you tell them….yes. Then they will be happy.
If you tell them the truth…..you could be in for a long discussion.
My big problem is …… I don’t know who they are…
Do you?

Only you know who they are Robert and why they ask you this question. My paintings often speak to me – it is a part of the strange and wonderful process of creation – the conversation between artist and subject – very personal. Perhaps you can answer them in your next painting…
Of course you are right John…..I was just wanting to extend the dialogue between subject and viewer. I know it is easier in a gallery situation for a viewer to engage with a work of art….but how about here? Thanks again for another insightful comment.
