Inspiration
I’m having a show at Logan Art Gallery in December. All welcome.
I apologise for the lack of posts recently. Have focused on Instagram but do love this site.
This is a new painting which I feel describes the challenges and rewards of seeking to find that greater place within us all. It is not a simple path but full of twists and turns. However, with love and honesty it is colourful and always enriching even though there are some concealed places that seem dark and threatened along the way. I hope you can relate to this journey too.

When my art is moving at the speed of light all I can do is keep out of the way and let it evolve.

This is another new painting on 15 stretched canvases. My intention was to go somewhere else with lots of colour. Suddenly this monochrome painting appeared which is nothing like I expected. However this image surprised and delighted me going far beyond what I had imagined. A painting has a life of its own.

When we start out as an artist one of our first aims is to learn to see the world as it really is. To render every detail or at least to be aware of them. Then we can learn to express our feelings to what we see about us. Somewhere along the way we can let go of the outer and focus on the inner which opens up a Universe of new discoveries. These can be simple or profound. But one thing is sure……it will be very different to anything we have seen before.

On a recent morning ride I saw two large kangaroos move rapidly along a nearby fenced area. They moved so quickly I was unable to photograph them. Then with camera still ready I was delighted when a smaller one followed the same pathway. With major developments happening everywhere it is so heartwarming to see areas still remaining to conserve wildlife.

Here is another in this series. A secret place, a huge studio where images just appear gallery-like on these unfinished hidden walls. These photographs and paintings from my past suddenly appear before me as if in a dream. There scale has changed as if they are crying out for my… or your attention. Too long have they been buried in my archives. They want to be seen!

Throughout history artists have had cats. As well as many other things they nurture our souls. Their lights shine deeply within our hearts. Their presence is enough to fill a home with peace and love.

Here is a new painting which was a direct response to dancing through several Picasso Still Life and Figure paintings. When I asked what he thought about it he said….. “Bloody terrible mate” in a pronounced Aussie accent. (I didn’t think he could speak Australian) Then he reminded me of the initial reaction to Les Demoiselles d’Avignon…. “It was terrible too! “

The benefits of a morning ride way exceed the physical. Each morning as I ride around the Wetlands my spirit soars with the sounds and stunning visual scenes which unfold before me. Here is just one of many which delight my eyes.

This is a close up of my latest painting. There are figures in a Cafe being served by a waiter. Although all my work is about mystery and you need to see what you can find. Life is like that. We see outward signs of things and we somehow put it all together.
But if we delve deeper much more is revealed.
