This is my latest painting where I have just let go! I don’t like it but I found in the past that doesn’t mean anything. Showing so much emotion is confronting especially for someone originally trained as an Engineer.

Here is another new mixed image paying tribute to one of Picasso’s great paintings. It makes no attempt to challenge his art but simply extend the possibilities of his image making.

What can I say about this! Traditionally self portraits aim to reveal aspects of a persons self. The rest I will leave up to you to see what this means to you.

Here is a new painting which was a direct response to dancing through several Picasso Still Life and Figure paintings. When I asked what he thought about it he said….. “Bloody terrible mate” in a pronounced Aussie accent. (I didn’t think he could speak Australian) Then he reminded me of the initial reaction to Les Demoiselles d’Avignon…. “It was terrible too! “

This is another new painting on 300 gsm paper. To me it has the feel of Cubism however it is a spontaneous release of Emotional Expressionism. It is too soon to decide what might happen from here.

Discovering The Essence of a Portrait
With this new painting on canvas I am attempting to discover that something hidden within a portrait….. it’s essence by going way beyond surface appearance.
Maybe one soul finding another.

Touched By Picasso
This is a new charcoal drawing on A2 paper.
It might be more accurate to say it was inspired by Picasso. Picasso often created by reinterpreting Old Masters, learning from them, delving into their mysteries.
With this drawing I have simply allowed one of his works to reinvent itself through me.

The Rhythm of the Moving Life
This is a new charcoal drawing on paper which evolved from a Picasso Still Life.
The Rhythm of the Moving Life
In the beginning was the word
And the word was Picasso
And from Picasso came Still Life
Then Still Life gave life to Living Life
From which evolved Pollock
And Pollock became rhythm and danced across the floor
Finally becoming the Rhythm of the Moving Life

New Version of Les dames du bain
Continuing with the same theme inspired by Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon here is a simple black and white image. Charcoal, Sumi ink and wash on A1 paper. Here I’m working with unfinished drawing and incomplete washes. Then of course there is my unique way of depicting the world. In fact that has been the primary purpose of this series.
